Shahin Gorgani is an Iranian filmmaker, actor, musician, and educator whose work moves across cinema, performance, and installation art. His films have premiered at festivals such as the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Outfest Los Angeles. His feature screenplay, Rehearsals, was selected for the Cine Qua Non Lab and was one of 11 Finalists of the 2026 New Voices Filmmaker Grant currently in development. As an actor, he has performed in three plays written and directed by Bahram Beyzaie, one of Iran’s most influential contemporary playwrights and directors. As a musician, he has appeared alongside Iranian artists including Grammy-nominated Keyhan Kalhor and the Shams Ensemble at venues such as Lincoln Center and the Library of Congress. Shahin also received an NEA grant for an installation project. Originally trained in Clinical Nutrition at UC Davis, Shahin left a career in Silicon Valley to pursue filmmaking. He later earned an MFA in Film Directing from CalArts, he is assistant professor in filmmaking at UNCSA, and is currently writing his first memoir.
